Overview
Riverside Nurse is seeking Registered Nurses to join their team of professionals. This is not a remote position; it is located on site at the Transfer Center, 1300 Old Denbigh Blvd, Newport News, VA 23602. Riverside Nurse provides continuous quality care for patients with a focus on facilitating safe transfers and transitions through the Transfer Center, assisting facilities/providers to move patients where they need to go and supporting community needs through the Riverside Nurse line.
Works in collaboration with RHS Healthcare teams to assist with the transition of critical and non-critical patients 24/7 to Riverside Health System’s Acute and Emergency facilities and services. Manages all inbound and outbound calls for critical transfers through the Riverside Transfer Center. Performs critical and non-critical symptom triage through the Riverside Nurse Triage line. Coordinates patient transport based on clinical assessment to ensure efficient patient throughput and coordinates bed placement in collaboration with physicians and clinical teams.
You Will Do
- Demonstrates ability to use clinical knowledge around service lines, disease entities, and epidemiological issues affecting transport, care, and placement while maintaining urgency to facilitate patient throughput with consistent, competent, and ethical care.
- Adheres to critical and non-critical protocols, algorithms, policies, and procedures. Completes all required clinical and quality documentation per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
- Performs critical and non-critical symptom-based triage through the Riverside Nurse line, providing patient disposition from 911 to home care. Adapts education methods to diverse patient populations to ensure patient/family comprehension.
- Coordinates and communicates with transfer team members, medical service transport coordinator, physician, bed management, and Transfer Center medical director throughout the course of transfer or direct admission to ensure positive patient outcomes.
- Promotes a network of Riverside hospitals and sending/receiving facilities to facilitate transfers efficiently and timely. Communicates detailed information about patient status and demographics when arranging transport.
- Program Graduate, Registered Nurse (Required)
- Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
- 3-4 years RN Experience in Acute Care setting (Required)
- 1 year Critical Care or emergency nursing (Preferred)
- Transfer Center experience preferred
- Nurse Triage experience preferred
- Computer experience required
- Efficient at typing/keyboarding required
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required)
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Preferred)
