Job Description
As a Pipelayer, you will work collaboratively with a backhoe operator to ensure the correct depth and grade for laying pipes. You will work alongside pipe craft and civil crews to place pipes in ditches while ensuring all safety protocols are followed. Your role will involve prefabricating pipes using materials such as ductile iron fittings, HDPE, slip joints, concrete, and steel pipes.
A strong emphasis on safety and a comprehensive understanding of the necessary tools and equipment are essential.
- Collaborate with backhoe operators to supervise the correct depth and grade for pipe laying.
- Work with pipe craft and civil crews to place pipes in designated areas.
- Prefabricate pipes using materials like ductile iron fittings, HDPE, slip joints, concrete, and steel pipes.
- Adhere to all safety policies and pass safety operation tests for trench work.
- Utilize knowledge of tools and equipment necessary for pipe laying.
- Perform additional duties as indicated by supervisors.
- Experience in pipe laying and utility construction.
- Proficient in laying pipes and installing utility lines.
- Trained in trenching and excavation safety.
Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of correcting pipes using slip joints, threaded joints, and bolting up.

Work EnvironmentThis role requires working outdoors in various temperatures, both hot and cold, from 7am to 5pm.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Newport News, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
