Staff Software Engineer, Mission Applications - Clearance Required

Overview

LMI is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to build mission applications for a U.S. Army enterprise data platform. This engineer will own user-facing capabilities from architecture through production delivery and help transition required functionality from legacy systems into the modern environment.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who can work across the stack, make sound technical decisions, and turn complex user needs into reliable software.

• Own the architecture and delivery of user-facing mission applications.
• Build responsive interfaces, backend services, APIs, and data integrations.
• Work directly with users and product stakeholders to understand workflows and refine capabilities.
• Transition required functionality from legacy applications without disrupting operational use.
• Establish strong practices for testing, code review, security, CI/CD, and production operations.
• Diagnose complex application and integration issues across the stack.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical decisions across the broader platform.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Eight or more years of professional software-engineering experience.
• Strong experience with modern front-end development and at least one backend programming language.
• Experience designing APIs, application services, and data-intensive systems.
• Strong software-engineering fundamentals, including automated testing, source control, CI/CD, and production monitoring.
• Demonstrated ownership of a major software capability from architecture through deployment.
• Experience supporting a Department of Defense customer.
• Active Secret clearance.

• Experience supporting the U.S. Army.
• Experience with React, Type Script, Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
• Familiarity with AWS, Palantir Foundry, Army Vantage, or comparable platforms.
• Experience modernizing or replacing legacy applications.
• Experience building software in secure or regulated environments.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted software-development tools.

Target salary range: $111,
