Workshop Vehicle Technician - Job overview
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Workshop Vehicle Technician to join the busy Newport team. The ideal candidate will be suitably experienced in diagnostics, repairs, and servicing a wide range of vehicles to the highest standards, ensuring safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:- Carry out diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of vehicles, including cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs).
- Perform routine servicing and inspections in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Accurately diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Complete repair work efficiently and in accordance with industry standards.
- Work with diagnostic equipment and software to troubleshoot issues.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and complies with health & safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of all work carried out u and parts used, using our internal systems.
- Liaise with the Workshop Manager and Service Advisors regarding job status and customer requirements.
- Support and mentor junior technicians when required.
- NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience in a similar role.
- Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient with modern vehicle systems and diagnostic tools.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Experienced MOT Tester (advantageous but not essential)
- Experience with hybrid and electric vehicles.
- Previous experience working in a high-volume workshop environment.
