General Maintenance Operative
Salary: £30,000–£35,000
Hours:
40 hours per week | Monday to Friday (08:00–16:30)

We’re recruiting for a General Maintenance Operative to join a well-established and expanding business within the property and self-storage sector. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong trade experience who enjoys taking ownership of repairs, maintenance and site improvements.
Working across a varied portfolio of sites, including self-storage facilities, office complexes and retail parades, you’ll play a key role in keeping buildings safe, functional and well maintained.

As General Maintenance Operative, you’ll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance works across multiple locations. Duties will include:
- General building repairs, including roofing and cladding
- Plumbing
- Joinery
- Tiling
- Painting and decorating
- Carpeting
- Paving
- Drainage works
- Grounds maintenance and site clearance
- Site pressure washing
- Furniture assembly
- Furniture removal
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a building trade or property maintenance role
- NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating
- Cladding and roofing experience
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise workload to meet in-house KPI/SLA timescales
- Competent in using IT systems to record work undertaken and associated expenditure
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures, including identifying hazards and carrying out point-of-work risk assessments
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively and minimise disruption
