Position: 21st Century Community Learning Center Site Coordinator

Job Summary

The Site Coordinator for the 21st Century Community Learning Center at Newport Primary School is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all aspects of the after‑school and summer school program designed to support students' academic, social, and personal growth. This role requires a motivated and compassionate individual committed to creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment that enriches students' educational experiences beyond the regular school day.

Functions, Duties And Responsibilities
  • Program Development & Implementation:
    • Design, implement, and evaluate a range of academic and enrichment activities that align with the goals of the 21st Century Community Learning Center and support student learning.
    • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and community partners to create a balanced program that includes tutoring, homework assistance, STEM activities, arts, physical education, and life skills.
  • Student & Family Engagement:
    • Establish positive relationships with students and families, promoting involvement in program activities.
    • Communicate with families regarding program goals, schedules, and student progress, fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Staff Supervision & Training:
    • Recruit, train, and supervise program staff, including instructors, volunteers, and tutors.
    • Provide ongoing support and professional development for staff to maintain high‑quality programming and ensure student safety.
  • Data Collection & Reporting:
    • Track and report attendance, program outcomes, and other data as required by grant and school administrators.
    • Regularly assess program effectiveness through surveys, observations, and data analysis, using findings to make program improvements.
  • Budget & Resource Management:
    • Manage the program budget, tracking expenses and ensuring the program operates within financial guidelines.
    • Identify and secure resources, including materials and community partnerships, to support and enhance program activities.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Ensure that all program activities comply with district and grant requirements, as well as health and safety regulations.
    • Develop and implement safety protocols and emergency procedures for staff and students.
Physical Qualifications
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions
  • Inspect and assure the security of facilities during shift
  • Walk, bend, lift, push, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Positive, friendly and energetic attitude.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with elementary school students in an educational or community program setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in program management, including budgeting, scheduling, and staff supervision.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build partnerships with families, community organizations, and school personnel.
  • Proficiency with data management and reporting tools.
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program and its objectives
  • Knowledge of Newport Primary School's student population and community needs
  • Experience in grant‑funded program management.
Reports To
  • 21st Century Community Learning Center Program Director
Working Conditions
  • This role requires flexibility in working hours, as the program operates after‑school/summer hours and may potentially need weekend availability on occasion.
Salary
  • Full‑time position
  • Salary based on the adopted salary schedule of the Newport Board of Education
