Overview

The On-Site Director/Lead Preschool Teacher oversees the daily operations of the childcare program while serving as the lead teacher in the classroom. This role ensures a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment for children, supports families and staff, and maintains compliance with all licensing and quality standards.

Description

The On-Site Director/Lead Preschool Teacher oversees the daily center operations and serves as the administrator on the childcare license. Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and quality standards (Step Up to Quality/Kentucky All STARS). Support enrollment, family engagement, and program success. Hire, mentor, supervise, and evaluate teaching staff. Coordinate staff meetings, training, and professional development. Maintain classroom supplies, equipment, and program resources.

Manage program requirements including food program participation, funding sources, vouchers, and parent accounts. Assist with budgeting and financial oversight. Ensure compliance with health, safety, confidentiality, ADA, child protection, and employment regulations. Lead a preschool classroom using developmentally appropriate practices. Create engaging lesson plans aligned with Ohio and/or Kentucky Early Learning Standards. Foster children's intellectual, social-emotional, physical, and language development. Conduct child observations and assessments to support individual learning goals.

Promote positive behavior guidance and maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. Experience working with young children in a licensed childcare setting. Current First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain). Successful completion of required background checks, TB screening, and state-required childcare orientation. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.

This position works primarily in a classroom serving children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. The role requires standing, walking, bending, and occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds.
