Media and Technology Teaching Assistant at Toledo Elementary School

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain an orderly media center while assisting all students in learning media and technology skills; assist in developing and implementing programs to use media and technology in the instructional process; facilitate a positive learning environment for all students; and make resources accessible and user-friendly.
Job duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Media Center/Teacher Support:
- Supports whole classes in the library instruction under the supervision of the District Librarian.
- Supports whole classes in technology instruction under the supervision of the District Librarian.
- Monitors and assists all students during daily activities as needed.
- Assists students in learning technology skills.
- Plans and instructs students in proper usage of technology under the direction of licensed staff.
- Assists teachers in planning and implementing lessons using technology as a classroom tool and for long distance education.
- Supervises students in distance learning classes, independent study program, or in use of individual study packets.
- Assists teachers with computerized testing.
- Maintains and organizes equipment and physical space.
- Communicates needs and repairs for maintenance and technology.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of available technology, and upgrades skills as needed.
- Collaborates with teachers to support classroom instruction.
- Checks materials in and out of the library using a computerized system.
- Organizes library materials using district filing standards.
- Prepares list of books for ordering and computerized cataloging.
- Orders books and other materials as directed.
- Oversee the process for ensuring that all students have access to a Chromebook.
- Work with the Technology Department to supply a Chromebook for new students, issue a loaner while a student's Chromebook is being repaired, or receive a Chromebook from a student that is leaving the school.
- Work with Teachers and the Technology Department to troubleshoot problems with devices.
- Understand how to create, work, and close tickets in Incident IQ.
- Manage the recruitment and issuance of mobile hotspots that students with low internet connectivity request.
- Textbook Management
- Ability to use Destiny Textbook Manager.
- Communicates with building secretaries about Destiny/Intouch for fines.
- Handles circulation: checkout/check in textbooks at beginning and end of school year and mid-year.
- Works with District Media Specialist to set up a system for running overdue notices.
- Distributes overdue notices to teachers, students, and to secretaries to mail home with report cards.
- Works with the technology department to update patron/staff records; removes inactive accounts.
- Sets up and organizes textbook rooms.
- Locates and transfers textbooks among buildings in coordination with the district office.
- Locates, gathers and catalogs remaining textbooks.
- Reorders lost textbooks and classroom novels.
- Weeds old textbooks, removes from Destiny, donates, recycles or discards.
- Orders and distributes college textbooks, maintains records.
- New adoptions –processing barcoding, stamping, cataloging; new textbooks may have electronic resources or are available as eBooks.
- Other duties as assigned.

Salary: $20.83/hour - $23.00/hour
This is an8.0 hour per day, 10-month position
Qualified applicants will be askedfor an interview and must providea resumeand at least 2 letters of recommendation. Upon selection, employees will be required to complete fingerprinting and background check.
