SUMMARY & PURPOSEA Houseman participates in the activities to provide the cleanest possible presentation for guests, allowing them to completely relax in their space without concern. A Houseman is employed for cleaning, maintenance, and other general work outside and inside the property to keep it presentable and running smoothly.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Respond promptly to guest inquiries and concerns, ensuring high guest satisfaction. Take every opportunity to increase guest loyalty.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the lobby, hallways, restrooms, and other shared spaces, including events and restaurants as necessary.
- Assists with the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for events.
- Collects and disposes of trash and recyclables. Cleans exterior buildings, stairwell rails, public areas, and the dumpster area.
- Handles basic repairs and maintenance where skills allow. Report any maintenance or repair needs beyond your skill level to management.
- Maintains housekeeping carts and guest carts.
- Stock the lobby with guest supplies and gifts, assist with inventory, and maintain a complete and presentable appearance.
- Restocks and maintains the organization of storage, housekeeping, and maintenance closets with guest room supplies and linens. Delivers linens to rooms to support housekeeping and improve cleaning times.
- Maintains inventory of necessary hotel supplies and supports management with fulfilling orders.
- As time allows, strips beds and pitches in with the housekeeping department.
- Participates in exterior maintenance activities and landscaping, including sweeping sidewalks, picking up trash, watering flower pots and beds, weeding, and other requests from the maintenance team.
- Assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance, including shampooing carpets, replacing light bulbs, mattress rotations, and other physical labor as assigned.
- As a team-oriented individual, you will work all scheduled shifts and cover shifts as needed to provide support. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team where everyone's contribution is valued.
- Communicate about workload and timelines transparently, communicate challenges, and propose solutions.
- Maintains a safety-first attitude towards guests and their well-being, adhering to all hotel safety and security policies.
- Writes reports, drafts messages, fills in checklists, and reviews written communication to and from guests, other departments, and management.
- Cross-train in other departments, such as laundry and housekeeping, to provide support when needed.
- All other duties as scheduled and assigned throughout the day.

- A high school diploma or a General Educational Development (GED) certificate is preferred.
- 1 year of experience in hospitality or a related role.
- A genuine passion for hospitality and a commitment to helping others.
- Flexibility in hours worked and adjustments to the seasonal nature of the position. Must be able to adjust the schedule in response to team callouts or changes in occupancy.
- Adept in problem-solving with critical thinking skills to identify issues, analyze options, and make informed decisions.
- Practical organizational management skills are crucial for delegating tasks appropriately and achieving successful operations.
- Effective time management skills enable supervisors to adapt to operational changes throughout the day and take appropriate steps to mitigate concerns.
- Attention to detail: notices minor issues, doesn’t miss dirt or sand, and understands the specificity of that detail.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to accurately measure and weigh chemicals.
- Physical stamina is required to walk and stand for long periods exceeding six hours daily.
- Exert up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently or constantly. Able to lift 25 lbs consistently. Able to carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- To stand and walk for six to eight hours at a time.
- Kneel, crawl, bend at the waist, and reach the floor.
- Reach overhead and maneuver arms above the head, reaching, pulling, and pushing.
