Lincoln County Health and Human Services is looking for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to help in providing care to our community. This person will independently provide health care to clients with mental and emotional needs and disorders in Primary Care and Behavioral Health settings. Provide services for a wide range of psychiatric, co‑occurring and/or intellectual/developmental disorders, including initial evaluation and diagnosis, participation in and development of treatment plans, management of psychotropic medications, referral to services as necessary, patient education, counseling and ongoing follow‑up.
This position works closely with a wide variety of professionals in diverse settings.

Within the specialty of the Nurse Practitioner (NP), they are responsible for managing health problems encountered by the client and is accountable for health outcomes. The NP will follow the six standards of practice:
- Assessment – Collect comprehensive data related to the health of the individual served. Synthesis and analysis of data and application of nursing principles and therapeutic modalities.
- Diagnosis – Prescribing, dispensing, and administration of therapeutic devices and measures, including legend drugs and controlled substances as provided in Division 56 of the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, consistent with the definition of the psychiatric nurse practitioner’s scope of practice.
- Outcomes identification – Based on the diagnosis the NP will identify outcomes that are culturally relevant, health literate, based in evidence and promotes the maintenance of health. Document expected outcomes and measureable objectives.
- Planning – Develop a plan that is client‑centered and reflects best practices by identifying strategies that are achievable.
- Implementation – The NP oversees the implementation of the plan through treatment, case management, referrals to community partners, collaboration with other health care providers and community resources, health promotion and education. Documents activities and status of care coordination.
- Evaluation – Apply on‑going assessment and analysis of data, revises plan as needed, assures that interventions and activities are appropriate for ultimate health outcomes for the client. Documents changes to enhance effectiveness of interventions.
Provide treatment of adult, adolescents and pediatric clients in Primary Care and Mental Health settings:
- Perform psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis with a wide array of acute and/or chronic psychiatric disorders. Assures the care team is functioning efficiently.
- Utilize knowledge of psychiatric disorders and their treatment, psychodynamic issues, normal growth and development, family dynamics and counseling skills to plan a comprehensive plan of treatment to suit the client’s needs.
- Prescribe and provide ongoing management of psychotropic medication for the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Documents services according to policy. Order lab work and other diagnostic tests as indicated as part of the diagnostic evaluation or ongoing management of the client.
- Consult and coordinate with physicians, Health Center Medical Director, Deputy Director of Clinical Operations and Primary Care Program Manager as indicated.
- Provide clients and their families with information about psychiatric disorders, treatment strategies and options, as well as resources available in the community.
