Corrections Health Nurse – Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
Provide comprehensive health maintenance, preventive and primary medical care, and treatment for adult inmates in a county corrections facility. Assist in operation of the health care unit and develop nursing practices under direction of the Sergeant. Assume responsibility for unit operation in absence of management staff.
$38.56 - $51.81 per hour

Added financial incentive will be given to RNs with an AA or BS degree from an accredited university. Those with verified translation abilities are also eligible for additional incentive. $5,000 HIRING BONUS

- Assessment
- Conduct and document initial and ongoing comprehensive and focused nursing assessments.
- Collect objective and subjective data from observations, examinations, interviews, and records.
- Analyze, record, and report data; detect inaccurate or missing information.
- Recognize changes in patient status; assess physical and emotional condition.
- Ensure safe, sanitary, and therapeutic environment, especially for patients in restraints or seclusion.
- Diagnosis and Priorities
- Analyze assessment data to derive nursing diagnoses and priorities.
- Document diagnoses to facilitate patient involvement in care planning.
- Outcomes Identification
- Identify culturally relevant, health literate outcomes based on diagnosis.
- Document expected outcomes and measurable objectives.
- Planning
- Develop and coordinate a comprehensive plan of nursing care.
- Select appropriate interventions and strategies, especially for chronic or persistent mental illness.
- Generate nursing orders and document in plain language.
- Implementation
- Oversee implementation of plan through treatment and case management.
- Provide health promotion and education on diet, hygiene, substance abuse, disease prevention.
- Administer medications, titrate doses, perform detox assessments, dressings, monitor vital signs.
- Additional Job Responsibilities
- Document medical history, nursing interventions, and responses in an electronic medical records program.
- Maintain prescription drug records according to standards.
- Provide sound pharmacology practices; dispense medications accurately.
- Evaluate and monitor medical supplies; maintain equipment; assist during examinations.
- Respond to emergencies, take charge of scene, implement measures and ensure follow‑up.
- Other Job Functions
- Attend and participate in team meetings, trainings, and activities.
- Provide training to staff on topics such as First Aid/AED/CPR, Narcan, medication administration, detox issues, labor and birth symptoms.
- Assessment
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
- Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience as a RN is not required. Preferred: 3 years of experience as a non‑licensed or licensed caregiver.
CertificationsCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required.
Driver’s LicenseOregon Driver's License required within 30 days of hire.
Other LicensesMust possess a current unencumbered license to practice nursing in the State of Oregon as a Registered Professional Nurse, in accordance with ORS 678.010 to 678.360 at the time of appointment.
Must possess a valid insurable Oregon motor vehicle license with a good driving record, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
BackgroundMust be free of conviction of a felony or crime that could lead to imprisonment > one year. Must not have a dishonorable or undesirable discharge from the military. Must pass a law enforcement background check and a psychological assessment. Must reside within two hours of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
