To better serve community members currently incarcerated in our jail, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is hiring a Corrections Health Nurse. This person will provide standard nursing care to patients within the correctional facility, respond to day‑to‑day medical issues and medical emergencies, and treat patients with respect while working in a correctional environment.
Compensation$30.61 - $41.13 per hour* **

Added financial incentive will be given to LPNs with an AA or BS degree from an accredited university. Those with verified translation abilities are also eligible for additional incentive. ***$5,000.00 HIRING BONUS***

- Assessment – Collect comprehensive data related to the health of the population served and document assessment data in terms understandable to all involved in the care process.
- Diagnosis and Priorities – Analyse assessment data to derive a nursing diagnosis and priorities, documenting diagnoses or concerns to facilitate patient involvement in developing a plan of care.
- Outcomes Identification – Identify culturally relevant, health literate, evidence‑based, attainable outcomes and document expected outcomes and measurable objectives.
- Planning – Develop and coordinate a comprehensive plan of nursing care, including selecting appropriate nursing interventions and strategies for patients with chronic medical problems or serious persistent mental illness. Document the plan using health‑literate, culturally competent language.
- Implementation – Oversee the implementation of the plan through treatment, case management, referrals to community partners, health promotion, and patient education. Administer medications, titrate medications, conduct daily detox assessments, and perform dressing changes; monitor and evaluate vital signs.
- Evaluation – Apply ongoing assessment data to revise plans, interventions, and activities as appropriate to achieve ultimate health outcomes for the population. Document changes to enhance effectiveness.
- Documentation – Document medical history, current illnesses, allergies, medications, nursing interventions, and responses to care accurately and thoroughly using an electronic medical records program.
- Medication – Provide sound pharmacology dispensing practices, including drug identification, action, side effects, and dosage.
- Equipment – Evaluate, monitor, and maintain medical supplies and equipment; ensure supplies are available, securely stored, and in working order; assist physicians and physician assistants during examination and treatment.
- Emergencies – Respond to emergencies, leading the scene until EMS arrives if RN is not present. Implement emergency measures and ensure follow‑up on referrals.
- Attend and participate in team meetings, training, and activities to improve community health.
- Provide training to Sheriff's Office staff on First Aid/AED/CPR, Narcan, medication administration, detox issues, labor, and birth symptoms.
Operates from established policies and procedures of Lincoln County Corrections Health, making decisions within written standing orders under direction of the licensed medical provider.
Education & QualificationsEducation: Associate's degree and/or professional certification; completion of a Licensed Practical Nursing certificate program.
License: Valid Oregon Licensed Practical Nurse license; maintain current and active licensure and certifications.
Experience: Experience as an LPN is not required; three years’ experience as a non‑licensed or licensed caregiver preferred.
Driver's License: Oregon driver's license required within 30 days of hire.
Background Check: Comprehensive background check, including criminal history, controlled substance offenses, military discharge status, and psychological assessment. Must reside within two hours of the Sheriff’s Office.
