Athletic Coordinator

Reporting to the Director of Program Operations, the Athletic Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
- Provide support to the Kid's Clubhouse and Teen Center for facilitation of after school programming
- Coordination and facilitation of Triple Play programming.
— Triple Play program is a dynamic wellness program that focuses on physical and mental health and wellness. The athletic coordinator would be responsible for creating program aligned with the Triple Play curriculum, and facilitating the program during after school programming hours.
- Support the athletic department leagues, clinics, events, etc.
- Work with various program partners to provide quality programming
- Maintaining attendance records of athletic department programming, leagues, clinics, events, etc.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of or the ability to obtain knowledge of the Newport Community (including community agency programs/services).
- Demonstrated ability to work with youth from a culturally diverse population and a sensitivity to that population.
- Must be proficient with computer technology – e.g. Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Power Point, and the ability to keep accurate data for reporting purposes and to work independently/self-starter.
- Citizenship, residency or work VISA in the United States required.
- All staff are expected to assist with our major fundraising events
- All staff have responsibilities to help fundraise
- Staff must be flexible as our schedules change to serve our members – evening and weekends are expected during the school year
- In collaboration with program staff, oversee and supervise Athletic Programming for our school-aged youth
- Create and implement programs that target the Boys & Girls Club’s primary outcomes (Healthy Lifestyles, Character & Leadership and Academic Success)
- Manage behaviors utilizing restorative practices, reinforcement and discipline when necessary
- Create an emotionally safe environment for all members
- Create a strong sense of belonging in the club through recognition and community-building efforts
- Design and implement programs each week
- Provide support in maintaining accurate member files, data entry, and other reporting for members.
- Participate in strategic planning to improve the quality of services, recruit and retain participants and generate revenue.
- Intentionally outreach to socio-economically diverse youth to become the place of choice for all children and youth
- Identify and respond to the mental and behavioral health needs of youth, with a focus on prevention through direct service and community collaboration
- Pursue community/school-based partnerships to provide greater access to more children and youth and to help meet BGC and Community’s top priorities

Terms of EmploymentThe position is part time 20-29 hours per week. After school/evening hours during the school year, morning/afternoon during the summer season, and weekend availability.
