Job Description

St. Michael's Country Day School is an independent school in Newport, RI serving students from toddler (2 year olds) through grade eight. The school exists to develop courageous learners and caring citizens who are world‑ready.

We are actively seeking an experienced math teacher for potential openings within the Middle School (grades 6‑8). Candidates must have a strong understanding of the academic, social, and emotional needs of middle school students and a passion for working with this age group during a critical stage of development. Ideal candidates will bring both a deep understanding of mathematics instruction and a commitment to helping students build confidence, problem‑solving skills, and conceptual understanding in a rigorous and supportive learning environment.

• a commitment to helping students develop strong quantitative reasoning, mathematical fluency, and confidence as learners

Experience with project‑based learning, Responsive Advisory, differentiated instruction, and student‑centered instructional practices is preferred. Experience teaching middle school math courses such as pre‑algebra, algebra, and geometry is also desirable. A master's degree and prior middle school teaching experience are preferred.
