Technical Programs Instructor

IYRS is seeking an experienced Technical Programs Instructor to lead and deliver targeted workforce development programs within the Digital Modeling & Fabrication (DMF) group. This position plays a critical role in advancing specialized industry training initiatives, including robotics and advanced manufacturing programs, that help our industry partners develop the skilled workforce needed to meet the demands of today's rapidly evolving manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate is an experienced educator and hands-on technical practitioner who is passionate about teaching, innovation, and applied learning. Working at the intersection of education and industry, this individual will develop and deliver workforce development training, provide CAD/CAM instruction across multiple IYRS programs, and serve as a technical resource for students, faculty, and industry partners. This role supports the practical application of advanced manufacturing technologies while helping students and professionals build the skills needed for success in modern manufacturing careers.

This position offers the opportunity to shape emerging technical training programs, strengthen industry partnerships, and contribute to a collaborative, shop-based learning environment.

Workforce development training courses may require flexible delivery, including evenings and selected weekends. Priority consideration will be given to candidates who apply by August 7th.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with industry and key government agencies to design and deliver targeted workforce development training.
  • Support the design and delivery of the DMF curriculum, including lectures, demos, and one-on-one instruction.
  • Collaborate with the DMF Lead Instructor and the DMF Professional Advisory Committee to evaluate and enhance course content and teaching methods.
  • Coordinate with adjunct faculty and assess student learning outcomes.
  • Deliver industry certifications (e.g., Solid Works, MasterCAM, Rhino).
  • Deliver introductory CAD/CAM modules for other programs (Composites Technology, Boatbuilding & Restoration).
  • Oversee CNC Router operations for DMF and Composites Technology.
Program Operations
  • Maintain and manage all DMF tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Ensure the lab meets industry standards for safety, cleanliness, and functionality.
  • Monitor inventory and ensure timely procurement of supplies.
  • Participate in safety training and enforce safety protocols.
Student & Institutional Engagement
  • Support students in securing externships and employment opportunities.
  • Participate in key school events such as Launch Day, Graduation, the Annual Gala, and open houses (some evenings/weekends required).
Essential KSOCs (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in education, training, or hands-on work with 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, and robotics/automation.
  • Proficiency in robotics with preference for FANUC systems
  • Proficiency in Rhino, Solid Works, and MasterCAM.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM workflows and CNC operations.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of a shop/lab environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) and distance learning tools.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary: $80,000 - $85,000 with annual bonus plan
