Position SummaryThis position is part of a team providing engineering and technical support to the Ranges, Engineering, and Analysis Department at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport RI. This multi-disciplinary team is responsible for providing systems safety, environmental qualification testing, and range sustainment in support of undersea warfare systems. Candidates are highly desired with education and experience in technical fields.
EssentialFunctions

- Install interfacing, mounting, and connecting components required to test systems.
- Maintain, operate, and repair test equipment and machinery including, but not limited to, atmospheric chambers, shock and vibration machines, and mounting fixtures.
- Read, understand, and implement customer requirements for testing electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Operate both hand and machine power tools as needed while maintaining safety standards.
- Operate test machinery powered by hydraulic systems.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma /GED.
- Three (3) years of experience in the operation, maintenance, repair, and testing of shipboard or industrial electrical/fluid systems and components.
- Basic computer skills, including a working knowledge of the use of the Microsoft Office Suite including Work, Excel, and Outlook.
Education and Experience
- Three (3) years of experience operating a CAT-III crane and rigging gear handling and CAT-III crane certification.
- Experience installing, maintaining, and operating hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of test areas such as low impact shock, high impact shock, vibration, inclination, enclosure, pressure, airborne noise, structure-borne noise, temperature, and humidity.
- Experience as a machinist; setting up and operating machines such as drills, mills, lathes, and saws.

- This position requires the ability to obtain and/or maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and required access to all worksite locations. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
