Accountant, Financial Reporting, Financial Analyst

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Newport, Rhode Island. In this role, you will handle key financial processes, including managing accounts payable, reconciling credit card accounts, and supporting year-end close activities. This position provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial accuracy and operational efficiency of our organization.

Responsibilities:

- Process and manage accounts payable to ensure timely and accurate tracking of invoices and expenses.

- Reconcile credit card accounts, addressing a backlog of transactions to bring records up to date.

- Collaborate on payroll system implementation efforts, transitioning from Apex to Paymaster.

- Monitor and report on fundraising activities to track financial contributions.

- Maintain detailed records of earned revenue to support organizational reporting.

- Assist with year-end close processes, ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial statements.

- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger for accurate financial tracking.

- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure proper alignment of records.

- Support the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. Requirements - Proficiency in accounts payable processes and invoice tracking.

- Strong knowledge of general ledger management and journal entry preparation.

- Experience with credit card account reconciliation and resolving transaction backlogs.

- Familiarity with payroll systems and implementation, particularly Apex and Paymaster.

- Ability to track and report on fundraising efforts and earned revenue.

- Expertise in year-end close procedures and financial statement preparation.

- Skilled in performing bank reconciliations with attention to detail.

- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
