Role Description

The Financial Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Newport, RI, responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County. This role manages budgeting, financial planning, and cash flow to ensure the organization's financial health and sustainability. Daily responsibilities include preparing and reviewing financial statements, maintaining accurate accounting records, and producing timely financial reports for leadership and the board.

The Financial Director ensures compliance with applicable regulations and organizational policies, supports audits, and implements internal controls. The role collaborates with executive leadership on strategic financial decisions, supports grant and fundraising reporting requirements, and provides clear analysis to guide program and operational priorities.

Qualifications
  • Strong finance and financial planning skills, including experience developing budgets and long-term financial strategies.
  • Proficiency in preparing and analyzing financial statements and financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Experience with non-profit or fund accounting, including compliance with federal, state, and grant-related financial requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency with accounting and financial management software, and strong skills in spreadsheet and presentation tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
