Summarized role:
Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and within hospital and department policies and procedures, assists in caring for patients and/or families from admission to discharge. A nursing assistant is a paraprofessional trained to provide personal care and related health care to individuals who are sick, disabled, or infirm, and who are residents of or receiving services from health care facilities licensed by the state.

• Collaborate with the Registered Nurse to organize work and set priorities.
• Perform Personal Care skills.
• Perform Basic Nursing Assistant skills as outlined by the Rhode Island Department of Health Professional Licensing and Facility Regulation.
• Perform Rehabilitation skills, assisting with daily activities of living and ambulating patients as appropriate.
• Maintain a safe environment by reporting unsafe conditions or equipment issues to the Registered Nurse, manager, or supervisor.
• Recognize and report signs and symptoms, communicating all pertinent patient observations to the Registered Nurse.
• Adhere to safety and infection control protocols; maintain quality assurance and complete documentation in the EHR, patient care flowsheet, and clinical data records.
• Demonstrate ability to perform responsibilities in emergency/code situations and may function as a patient observer.
• Perform other related duties as required.

• Current Rhode Island nursing assistant license.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Certified in American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
• Knowledge and skill to provide care to patients throughout the life span, considering aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns.
• One year of experience as a Nursing Assistant preferred.

Pay Range: $17.00 - $25.31
