Advanced Practice Nurse; Practitioner​/Occupational Health

About the Position

This position is located at Naval Health Clinic New England, Newport, Rhode Island. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

• Resume must clearly describe relevant experience; transcripts may be required if qualifying based on education.

Successfully completed a graduate or higher level Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) degree from an accredited educational program, specializing in Practitioner and Occupational Health.

• Graduates of foreign nursing schools must complete the CGFNS Certification Program, which includes a credential evaluation, the CGFNS Qualifying Exam, and evidence of passing an approved English Language Proficiency examination.
• Attach a copy of the CGFNS Certificate.

• Must pass the National Council Licensure Examination.
• Maintain a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.

Exempt from the above basic requirements if a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series, continuously employed in that series since September 27, 2017 (or earlier).

One or more full years of professional nursing experience that includes providing patient healthcare such as assessments, diagnosis, treatments, and prescribing medications. This experience is typical of work performed at the next lower federal grade/level (GS‑11).

Exempt from the one‑year specialized experience requirement if you were previously employed as a Nurse or Practical Nurse in the Department of War for at least one year, or are currently employed as such, and after commencing work obtained a bachelor’s or graduate degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program. Attach a copy of transcripts.

Some federal jobs allow substitution of education for required experience. For this job, qualification must be met using experience alone—no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
