We feature marine brands such as Henri Lloyd, Musto and Helly Hansen, and outdoor brands such as The North Face, Kuhl, Free Fly, Grunden's, and Outdoor research along with Lifestyle brands.
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Store Manager to lead our outdoor apparel and lifestyle, brick and mortar store in Newport, RI. This role is ideal for a people‑first leader who loves the outdoors and aims to create exceptional in‑store experiences. The Store Manager is responsible for driving sales, building a strong team culture, and serving as a brand ambassador within the local community and visitor market.
This role requires a proven retail leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, creative and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development- Lead, recruit, train, develop, and retain a high-performing retail team that puts a focus on product education and consultative selling
- Foster an inclusive, positive, and accountable team culture
- Lead by example on the sales floor, setting standards for customer experience and engagement
- Adaptable, organized, and calm in high-volume seasonal periods
- Conduct regular performance check-ins and annual reviews
- Deliver an exceptional, high-touch, authentic customer experience aligned with our outdoor lifestyle brands
- Drive sales through strong merchandising, product knowledge, and engaging with the clientele with a consultative style
- Partner with the owner to set and monitor sales goals; analyze metrics, and take action to improve performance
- Ensure consistent execution of brand standards and store presentation
- Oversee day-to-day store operations, including scheduling and cash management
- Control expenses and labor while maintaining service standards
- Partner with Warehouse Manager to manage inventory receiving and replenishment,
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and support seasonal product transitions
- Ensure compliance with company policies
- Execute visual merchandising that reflects seasonal product stories and elevates the outdoor lifestyle
- Partner with leadership on store layouts, displays, and product flow
- Ensure the store is clean, organized, and inviting
- Act as a brand ambassador in the local community
- Build relationships with local organizations, outdoor groups, and neighboring businesses
- Support in-store events, brand activations, and community partnerships
- Engage both local customers and seasonal visitors with equal care and attention
- 3-5+ years of retail store management experience (apparel preferred)
- Proven ability to drive sales, understand and manage store metrics
- Passion for lifestyle brands, culture-building, and customer experience
- Strong leadership, communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Collaborative team player, able to work effectively with others
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak tourist seasons
- Experience with POS systems, inventory management, and scheduling tools
