OverviewSPECIALTY SALES ASSOCIATE Full-Time Incentive award $500.00. As a Specialty Sales Associate you will be the face of our company, highlighting our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. Through your specialty knowledge you will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services.
You must be capable of learning about what we sell and articulating our purpose in a manner that is educational, insightful, and professional. You should have a positive and outgoing nature that enjoys serving others and making a positive impact to the organization.
- Customer Service – Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.
- Ask questions and listen to customers’ needs.
- Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, STAR card.
- Provide premier customer service and maintain positive, inclusive, respectful relationships; take accountability for your actions and outcomes.
- Use product knowledge to demonstrate features and provide comparisons with similar products.
- When selling clothing or military uniforms, may be required to take upper and lower body measurements for proper fit.
- Organization – Maintain store appearance.
- Sales – Cross-sell, know store layout, suggest latest trends and current promotions based on customer needs; upsell.
- Learn product features, stay updated on trends, and leverage tools to provide product knowledge and specs.
- Use a Point-of-Sales system, process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, and credit/debit card transactions; handle cash and return accurate amounts.
- Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
- May handle special order merchandise requests, including ordering, tracking, and providing updates to customers.
- Inventory – Maintain merchandise, complete inventory processes, ensure items are checked in and properly ticketed; participate in periodic inventories as needed.
- Dependability – Adhere to assigned work schedule; ensure accurate and complete follow-through on work assignments.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Product Knowledge – In-depth technical knowledge of how products work, warranties, and ability to compare products by features.
- Experience – 1-2 years of retail or relevant work experience required; 6 months of product-specific experience required.
- Communication Skills – Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to read, write, and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; effective communication with customers, peers, and management; proper telephone etiquette.
- Mathematical Skills – Basic math functions; ability to use a calculator, calculate percentages and ratios.
- Reasoning Ability – Ability to multi-task, stay attentive to customers, adapt to business needs, work in a team, take initiative, and problem-solve customer needs.
This position involves constant movement, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for extended periods. May include stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision includes close and color perception; ability to adjust focus. Lifting up to 50 lbs in some departments. Work is indoors but may be outdoors depending on location.
Work HoursAvailable to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
General Experience & Education Substitution- General Experience – 6 months of responsible experience in clerical office or retail store work demonstrating the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position.
- Substitution of Education for Experience – Graduation from a full 4-year program or high school diploma or GED may be substituted for the experience requirements.
