Supervisory SALES Associate - Consumables

Job Summary

As a Supervisory Sales Associate you will be the face of our company to both the associates and our customers. You will highlight our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. You will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services.

You will also be a team leader to the associates ensuring the work environment is positive and productive. Through a continuous learning environment you will stay current on products we sell and articulate our purpose in a professional, educational, and insightful manner.

• Customer Service – Proactively engage and make a connection with customers; ask questions and listen to their needs; direct them to merchandise, informing them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card; provide premier customer service; cooperate and build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships; take accountability for your actions and outcomes.
• Organization – Maintain store appearance.
• Sales – Cross‑sell products and know the layout of the store; make suggestions based on latest trends and promotions; upsell products; learn product features and keep up with the latest trends; leverage company tools and technology to provide customers with product knowledge specifications; use a Point‑of‑Sale system to process cash, exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards, and cash handling, including counting money and returning accurate amounts.
• Documentation – Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
• Inventory – Be the keeper of merchandise; complete all inventory processes and ensure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed; participate in periodic inventories; secure cash, fixed assets, and merchandise inventory; provide direction on assignments, prioritizing projects and managing merchandise and inventory.
• Dependability – Adhere to the assigned work schedule and complete work assignments accurately and completely.
• Supervisory Requirements – Provide effective leadership, demonstrate ability to direct, train, and motivate associates; set a positive example; provide coaching, feedback, and timely and professional guidance; give direction on work assignments and training to sales associates; provide input to the Department Manager on associate performance; may open and close locations.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Product Knowledge – Moderate level of knowledge of products and merchandise; provide training documentation to sales associates on product features.
• Experience – 1–2 years of retail or relevant work experience required; 1 year of lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Communication Skills – Strong interpersonal and communication skills; read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; communicate with customers, peers, and management; conduct telephone communication with proper etiquette.
• Mathematical Skills – Basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), use of calculator, calculate percentages and ratios, make change in American monetary units.
• Reasoning Ability – Multi‑task while being attentive to customers; remain flexible to the needs of the business; work as part of a team and take initiative independently; defuse escalated exchanges and create win‑win situations.

This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. Occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders may be required. Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The position may involve lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs in some departments. Work is typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors depending upon location.
