Assignment Ready Counselor (ARC)
Overview
These part‑time positions support On Demand Events, Surges, Summer Camps, and Backfills within the MFLC program. The ARC provides coverage in short‑term, surge and on‑demand situations for military service members and their families at Army installations, including Summer ARC assignments that run from May 15 through September 15.
Responsibilities- Provide non‑medical, short‑term, solution‑focused counseling to adults, children, and youth.
- Conduct assessments, brief counseling, action planning, referral to resources, and follow‑up.
- Deliver training and health‑and‑wellness presentations; participate in health fairs and other base activities.
- Enter activity data daily through smartphone or web application, ensuring accurate reporting and confidentiality.
- Assist with workplace safety protocols (line‑of‑site) and manage duty‑to‑warn/limited reporting per DoD regulations.
- Respond to critical incidents and special requests from the point of contact and program managers.
- Participate in regular supervision, quality‑improvement committees, and training as needed.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community resources and the installation point of contact.
- Master’s degree in a mental‑health related field or social work from an accredited graduate program.
- Current independent licensure at an independent practice level in Rhode Island (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, or equivalent).
- U.S. citizenship and fluency in English.
- Advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution‑focused counseling methods.
- Ability to work with minimal instruction, adapt to varied working conditions, and handle weekend or short‑notice assignments.
- Experience with short‑term, surge or on‑demand assignments, including military or school settings.
- For CYB positions: experience with children and youth, specialty in child and adolescent development or psychology.
- Willingness to comply with site‑specific requirements, including current immunizations or vaccinations.
Salary Range: $59,922 – $100,280 per year, depending on location and experience.
