We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team and serve as a key business partner to manufacturing operations. Reporting directly to the Regional Controller, this role combines cost accounting, inventory management, financial reporting, and operational analysis to support business performance and strategic decision-making.

What You'll Do Manufacturing & Cost Accounting- Prepare and post journal entries related to production, labor, overhead, and inventory transactions
- Analyze manufacturing costs and investigate variances against standards, budgets, and operational expectations
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Coordinate and reconcile production reporting, including units produced, scrap, and manufacturing variances
- Provide financial insight and recommendations that support operational performance
- Maintain accurate accounting for raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods inventory
- Partner with production and operations leaders to validate inventory movements and production reporting
- Support physical inventories and cycle count programs while investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Monitor inventory reserves, obsolescence, and required adjustments
- Help improve inventory accuracy and cost visibility across the plant
- Prepare and analyze plant financial reports, including P&L statements, cost summaries, and variance analysis
- Support account reconciliations, accruals, and plant-related AP/AR activities
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and audit requirements
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reporting efficiency and financial processes
- Utilize AS/400 (IBM i) to support financial, inventory, and production activities
- Play a key role in our upcoming SAP implementation and finance transformation efforts
- Support system enhancements, process improvements, and standardization initiatives across manufacturing finance operations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3-5 years of accounting experience within a manufacturing or plant environment
- Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory accounting, and manufacturing operations
- Experience with AS/400 (IBM i), SAP, or comparable ERP systems
- Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- High level of accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment with regular onsite presence in Newport, Tennessee
- Experience supporting manufacturing plants or multi-site operations
- Strong knowledge of standard costing and variance analysis
- Experience partnering directly with production and operations leadership
- CPA or CMA designation (or progress toward certification)
