Overview

Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (L&D) in Newport, Vermont, United States. Start date 08/03/2026 for a 13‑week travel assignment. Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care for laboring patients, including postpartum and newborn care, in a small‑bore maternity setting.
  • Monitor fetal status and maternal vitals, assist with labor progress, administer medications and IV therapies as ordered, and support routine obstetric procedures.
  • Maintain patient safety, infection control, accurate documentation, and interaction with the obstetric team to optimize outcomes.
  • Deliver patient and family education, including newborn care and postnatal instructions, while maintaining compassionate, culturally competent care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing colleagues, and unit staff; participate in shift handoffs and care coordination.
  • Float to other units as needed to support department needs and manage overflow from the Progressive Care Unit.
Requirements
  • Active Registered Nurse license in Vermont.
  • Experience in Labor & Delivery and/or postpartum and neonatal care preferred.
  • Ability to work night shifts and to float to other units as needed.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, thorough charting, and adherence to hospital policies.
  • Availability to participate in quarterly department education sessions as required.
