Overview
Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (L&D) in Newport, Vermont, United States. Start date 08/03/2026 for a 13‑week travel assignment. Night shift with guaranteed 36 hours per week and a pay range of $2,116 to $2,238 per week. Work setting is a 25‑bed Critical Access Hospital providing Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, and Baby Unit care. The role requires flexibility to float to other units and to support overflow from the Progressive Care Unit as needed.

- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care for laboring patients, including postpartum and newborn care, in a small‑bore maternity setting.
- Monitor fetal status and maternal vitals, assist with labor progress, administer medications and IV therapies as ordered, and support routine obstetric procedures.
- Maintain patient safety, infection control, accurate documentation, and interaction with the obstetric team to optimize outcomes.
- Deliver patient and family education, including newborn care and postnatal instructions, while maintaining compassionate, culturally competent care.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing colleagues, and unit staff; participate in shift handoffs and care coordination.
- Float to other units as needed to support department needs and manage overflow from the Progressive Care Unit.
- Active Registered Nurse license in Vermont.
- Experience in Labor & Delivery and/or postpartum and neonatal care preferred.
- Ability to work night shifts and to float to other units as needed.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, thorough charting, and adherence to hospital policies.
- Availability to participate in quarterly department education sessions as required.
