Registered Nurse – Med Surg Tele travel assignment in Newport, Vermont.
Start date:
08/31/2026. 13-week contract with guaranteed 36 hours per week. Shift: 3x12-hour nights. Setting: a small, critical access hospital (25 beds) serving the Northeast Kingdom. This role covers PCU/Med Surg/Tele patients, requires independent practice, and includes charge nurse responsibilities with occasional float to other units as needed. Med-Surg/Tele unit in a small community hospital in Newport, VT
- Provide direct patient care for adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients as a registered nurse
- Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor vitals, adjust care plans, and administer medications and IV therapies
- Document accurately in the medical record and communicate changes to the care team
- Act as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating patient flow, assignments, and unit operations
- Float to other units as needed to support staffing needs while maintaining competency
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case management, and family members to ensure safe discharge planning and continuity of care
- Active Registered Nurse license in Vermont (or eligibility to obtain)
- Minimum ability to work the 7p–7a night shift with every-other-weekend rotations
- Relevant experience in Med-Surg/Tele or PCU settings; ability to float to other units as needed
- Strong clinical judgment, documentation skills, and ability to work independently in a hospital setting
- Education:
graduate from an accredited nursing program with RN licensure
- Dedicated support throughout the assignment
- Credentialing and onboarding assistance to facilitate a timely start
- Regular communication and scheduling support from a travel nursing team
- Educational opportunities and department education sessions as part of ongoing professional development
