Coordinator II - Restorative Justice

Coordinator II at NEKCA supports their peers with service delivery in their area of specialty. The Coordinator II has additional responsibilities that may include mentoring, grant reporting, and ensuring smooth operations at service locations in support of the Program Manager. Utilizing a team-based approach, the Coordinator II works to support programmatic needs to increase understanding and build capacity within the program.

This position is a Coordinator for the Restorative Justice Programs in the Community and Restorative Justice Department that oversees transitional housing for people exiting incarceration and reentering the community.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform intake per requirements of NEKCA/grantor. Determine and verify eligibility for all applicants in accordance with program guidelines
  • Collect and report all data accurately and timely into GoEngage to meet program deadlines
  • Assess participants in crisis to determine immediate needs and develop plan for response, including referrals (interagency and external)
  • Work collaboratively with community partners to address needs of low-income households
  • Understand and follow all program guidance and policies
  • Provide programmatic support to work team as designated by Program Manager
  • Provide Program Manager with regular updates
  • Attend and participate in staff, agency and community meetings deemed necessary for job performance
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Advocate for services within the community that assists participants in gaining self-sufficiency
  • Facilitate a variety of restorative circles including house meetings.
  • Work with participants who have experienced incarceration for a wide range of offenses in a non-judgmental manner.
  • Build and maintain relationships with landlords that rent to our participants.
  • Teach participants skills to manage and be accountable of their actions through restorative practices.
  • Refer participants in developing a housing plan, including participating in the coordinated entry process and working with housing specialist.
  • Support participants in maintaining a safe and healthy housing unit through inspections and notify landlord of any issues.
  • Coordinate weekly meetings and review case plans with residents of transitional housing locations
  • Support participants in making positive choices to secure long term housing, employment and support system.
  • Support participants in advocating for accommodations as necessary

  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to maintain good relations with participants, other staff, and members of the community.
  • Must have knowledge of basic computer skills and record keeping, including spreadsheet applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and database management systems.
  • This position is considered a mandated reporter.
  • Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-initiated, may need to work flexible hours (program dependent)
  • Demonstrate positive problem-solving skills in stressful situations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with, and sensitivity to the challenges faced by low-income individuals, and some knowledge of the community and available resources to address them.

Working Conditions:

Employees in this position work primarily in an office environment with moderate noise levels and controlled temperature conditions. The work involves sitting for extended periods of time, using a computer and other office equipment, and may require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
