Clinic Nurse (CMA or LPN) - Newton IL Clinic
Clinic nurses are responsible for providing assistance to providers in the direct and indirect care of Practice Management patients. They perform patient or office related duties, including but not limited to clinical measurements, data collection, and documentation. Functions clinically as support staff to providers.
Responsibilities- Accepts reassignment at the direction and discretion of management as applicable to staffing levels and patient volumes.
- Administers medication as directed by the provider.
- Assists providers with patient exams, treatments, and procedures.
- Cleans and stocks exam rooms and work spaces on an ongoing basis to ensure adequate supplies.
- Performs all tasks related to stocking and cleaning in adherence to regulatory and system infection control policies.
- Discards outdated items and labels multi-dose vials with date and initial, then discards them per guidelines.
- Cleans and sterilizes equipment and instruments as needed.
- Collects patient data such as height, weight, vital signs and other measurements.
- Documents appropriate data and keeps providers aware of patient requests, needs and observations that may be valuable for assessment, care and follow-up.
- Documents responses to patient history and screening questions for use by providers during assessments and examinations.
- Follows Universal Precautions at all times during contact with patients, equipment, instruments and specimens.
- Performs and documents laboratory duties, which may include phlebotomy, specimen collection and basic waived testing.
- Handles and coordinates reference lab testing specimens and reports and corresponding documentation.
- Performs general clerical duties, such as receiving and mailing patient test results, preparing charge tickets, transcribing data to physical or referral forms, filing and ordering supplies.
- Relays information between provider(s) and client(s), including communications with patients, families, pharmacies, nursing homes, consultative office staff, insurers and facilities.
- Communicates provider advice, instructions, orders and results as applicable with accurate documentation.
- Schedules patients for diagnostic, therapeutic, referral or additional office visits.
- High School diploma (required).
- BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) from Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation or Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
- Clinical background:
Completed a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse coursework (preferred).
Pay basis on experience. Starting at $19.61 per hour for a CMA and $22.72 per hour for an LPN. Estimated compensation range $22.72 – $35.22. Sign-on bonus up to $5,000.
