The Registrar serves as the first point of contact for patients entering the hospital and throughout their healthcare journey. This role requires a motivated, self-directed individual who can work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The Registrar is responsible for accurately checking in patients, collecting and verifying patient demographic and insurance information, researching accounts for missing or inaccurate information, and explaining payment collection policies for services provided.
Professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent customer service are essential to success in this role.
Hours: Shifts vary between 6am-6pm. Assigned shifts are 6:0am-2:30pm, 8:30am-5:00pm, 9:30am-6pm. 1-2 weekends per month.
Key Responsibilities- Greets and registers patients in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
- Collects, verifies, and enters patient demographic, insurance, and identification information.
- Researches and resolves missing or inaccurate patient or insurance data.
- Explains payment collection policies and financial expectations to patients.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA guidelines.
- Provides excellent customer service while supporting patient flow and departmental efficiency.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Medical terminology coursework preferred.
- Previous healthcare experience preferred; willing to train the right candidate.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered service.
