Outpatient Insurance Coordinator (Full Time)
Location: Medical Center - 600 Medical Center Drive, Newton, KS, 67114
Category: IMAGING

This position provides customer service-oriented support with strong interpersonal skills. The role is responsible for performing referrals, precertification, and authorization processes while delivering high-quality service to physicians, patients, and visitors.

The qualified individual must be able to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment, multitask effectively, problem-solve, and make independent decisions while prioritizing work with minimal direct supervision. Independent decision‑making in the best interest of the department is essential.

This is a Monday‑Friday position. No weekends or holidays.

This position reports to the Imaging Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule imaging appointments and coordinate patient referrals
  • Perform precertification and authorization with insurance companies
  • Provide high-quality customer service to patients, physicians, and staff
  • Accurately manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Maintain scheduling accuracy and ensure compliance with departmental processes
Qualifications
  • Education
    High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience
    1–2 years of experience in a medical office or hospital setting preferred
  • Experience with Meditech, Outlook, and IPAS preferred
  • Knowledge & Skills
    Strong typing and computer skills
  • Knowledge of insurance requirements and authorization processes
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and manage competing priorities
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and staff
