Outpatient Insurance Coordinator (Full Time)
Location: Medical Center - 600 Medical Center Drive, Newton, KS, 67114
Category: IMAGING
This position provides customer service-oriented support with strong interpersonal skills. The role is responsible for performing referrals, precertification, and authorization processes while delivering high-quality service to physicians, patients, and visitors.
The qualified individual must be able to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment, multitask effectively, problem-solve, and make independent decisions while prioritizing work with minimal direct supervision. Independent decision‑making in the best interest of the department is essential.
This is a Monday‑Friday position. No weekends or holidays.
This position reports to the Imaging Director.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule imaging appointments and coordinate patient referrals
- Perform precertification and authorization with insurance companies
- Provide high-quality customer service to patients, physicians, and staff
- Accurately manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Maintain scheduling accuracy and ensure compliance with departmental processes
- Education
High School Diploma or equivalent - Experience
1–2 years of experience in a medical office or hospital setting preferred - Experience with Meditech, Outlook, and IPAS preferred
- Knowledge & Skills
Strong typing and computer skills - Knowledge of insurance requirements and authorization processes
- Ability to multitask efficiently and manage competing priorities
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and staff
