Job Summary

We are looking for a Production Planner who will be responsible for the finite scheduling of all Master Schedules provided by Corporate Supply Planning Group. The incumbent will build and organize an efficient finite production schedule on a weekly to bi-weekly basis that maximizes production efficiency while minimizing raw material and work-in-process inventory, changeover costs, and satisfies customer demand and honors scheduled ship dates.

The incumbent will manage all raw material receivers, including the receipt in the ERP system, the review of any discrepancies, and resolution of issues when problems arise.

Essential Duties
  • Create and maintain plant’s finite production schedules on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis that balances production efficiency, raw materials, WIP inventory, and customer service.
  • Maintain communication with production, shipping, purchasing, corporate supply planning, and other stakeholders to provide a free exchange of information and ideas about scheduling plans so that necessary changes can be made smoothly to meet overall objectives. Maintain ongoing communications with supervisors, unloading employees, yard operations, supply planning, and buyer regarding schedule changes.
  • Maintain required raw materials inventories and order quantities at the most economical delivery, storage, and obsolescence costs while ensuring timely delivery and adequate supplies on site.
  • Perform or assist with physical inventory counts of raw material and finished product as needed.
  • Participate in planning and establishing overall production objectives based on customer demand and sales forecasts. Lead weekly meetings to review planned schedule.
  • Initiate discussions with vendors concerning plan forecast material needs to ensure adequate manufacturing and delivery lead time for suppliers.
  • Trace and expedite shipments to ensure plant operations are not impacted by delayed shipments; monitor and coordinate shipments in such a way that railroad demurrage and the cost penalty associated with truck delivery is kept to a minimum.
  • Order and maintain inventories of production and office supplies staying within expense budgets. Assist accounting with month-end inventory counts for all raw materials and finished products. Resolve issues when needed.
  • Enter raw materials receipts and verify accuracy of receipts. Resolve discrepancies between amount ordered and amount received.
  • May create monthly TNRCC emission report and waste manifest: collect required documents and file.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) coupled with 2-4 years of demonstrated experience in production planning in a high-volume manufacturing operation.
  • Demonstrated advanced communication and analytical skills along with organizational skills; intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with an ERP system.
  • Proficiency in learning new systems and processes and ability to work effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD) – APICS preferred.
