Qualifications
  • Working knowledge and experience in the following areas: electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC maintenance, welding, concrete work, swimming pool maintenance and other related skills.
  • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for all assigned responsibilities.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board of education may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Valid Kansas driver's license

Job Goal

To maintain the high school and annex buildings in the highest state of material readiness to prevent major breakdowns so as to ensure the health and safety of staff and students.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs building systems and equipment, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, pool, communication, kitchen, and related mechanical systems to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted facility operations.
  • Develops and implements preventive maintenance programs; conducts routine inspections; monitors system performance; and prioritizes, coordinates, and completes maintenance and repair projects.
  • Orders repair parts, materials, and equipment; manages maintenance resources; and makes recommendations regarding equipment replacement, capital improvements, and facility upgrades.
  • Coordinates seasonal and summer maintenance schedules to ensure preventive maintenance and major repair projects are completed during non-use periods.
  • Performs and oversees maintenance work on district facilities, including building interiors and exteriors, roofs, grounds, tunnels, and other facility infrastructure under varying weather conditions.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn and apply new maintenance techniques, technologies, and all aspects of school facilities operations, including pool maintenance and upkeep.
  • Assists with custodial duties as needed, serves as a substitute custodian when assigned, and moves equipment, materials, and supplies within and between district facilities.
  • Remains available for overtime, evenings, weekends, and emergency call-outs to address operational needs and equipment failures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or Building Administrator.
Terms of Employment

12 month position. Wage to be established by the board of education.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of support services personnel.
