Sheet metal Technician
As a Sheet metal Technician, you will perform drilling, riveting, trimming, and repair work on aircraft structures and parts, with a strong focus on sheet metal modification. You will work from blueprints to carry out modifications and repairs, contributing to safe, precise, and high-quality airframe and composite work in a fast-paced aviation environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform sheet metal modification work on aircraft and related parts, including structural changes and upgrades.
- Drill out fasteners and prepare surfaces for installation and repair according to specifications.
- Install and set rivets using appropriate tools and techniques to ensure secure and accurate fastening.
- Carry out trim work on aircraft components, ensuring clean finishes and adherence to design requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to plan and execute modifications and repairs.
- Perform sheet metal repair on airframes and related structures, including countersinking and fitting of panels.
- Work with composite and airframe components as needed to support modification and repair projects.
- Use personal tools and equipment safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.
- Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians on the shop floor to coordinate work on multiple aircraft.
- Follow safety procedures, including wearing safety glasses when required, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Essential
Skills:
- Proven sheet metal modification experience, preferably at least 3 years.
- Hands-on experience in a repair environment or experimental line working on aircraft.
- Ability to drill out fasteners, countersink, rivet, and perform trim work on sheet metal components.
- Strong sheet metal repair skills, including working on airframes and related structures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Experience working in a modification environment, ideally with King Air aircraft.
- Capability to work with composite materials in support of airframe modifications.
- Ownership and proficient use of personal tools required to perform sheet metal and repair tasks.
Additional Skills &
Qualifications:
- Experience with King Air aircraft is a plus.
- Experience with an aircraft repair station or experimental aircraft line is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with FBO operations and working around multiple aircraft in a shared hangar environment.
- Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled shop setting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team of mechanics on the shop floor.

This is a Contract position based out of Newton, KS.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
