Tax Manager – Public Accounting | Energy & Private Equity Focus
We’re currently partnering with a growing public accounting firm to hire a Tax Manager into their team, supporting a strong client base across private equity-backed partnerships and the energy sector.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to step into a high-impact, client-facing role with exposure to complex transactions and technical tax work.
The RoleYou’ll manage a portfolio of clients across corporate, partnership, and individual tax, taking ownership of engagements from planning through to completion.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing federal, state, local, and international tax returns, including estimates, extensions, and audit support
- Advising clients on tax strategy, identifying planning opportunities and the impact of regulatory changes
- Leading engagements and managing commercial aspects including billing, realization, and collections
- Identifying tax credits and opportunities arising from new legislation
- Leveraging systems such as CCH Axcess to drive efficiency and accuracy across engagements
- Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, building strong and trusted relationships
- Working closely with senior stakeholders including Partners, Controllers, and C‑Suite executives
- Supervising and developing junior staff (typically 1–2 per engagement), supporting both technical and professional growth
- Supporting business development through networking, proposals, and client expansion activities
- Strong emphasis on training and development through structured internal programmes

- 5+ years’ experience in public accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or related field)
- CPA (or equivalent) required
- Strong technical tax experience, ideally within private equity, partnerships, or energy sector clients
- Exposure to M&A / transaction work, or a strong interest in developing this area
- Experience with ASC 740 and public company clients is advantageous
- Oil & Gas experience is a plus
- Willingness to travel regionally, including occasional overnight stays and firm-wide events
