Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join a retail organization in Newton, Massachusetts. This fully on-site opportunity is a Long-term Contract position offering 30-40 hours per week for an initial 3-6 month term with the possibility of extension. The person in this role will help keep accounts payable operations organized by managing invoice activity, supporting customs-related financial tracking, and ensuring records are accurate and up to date.

Responsibilities:

- Manage a steady volume of invoices each week, ensuring items are received, reviewed, and prepared for timely processing.

- Verify billing details for completeness and accuracy before submitting transactions for entry.

- Organize invoice information in Excel and prepare coded data for accounting records.

- Enter, update, and maintain transaction coding within SAP as required for accounts payable activity.

- Assist with vendor account reconciliation by locating outstanding documentation and resolving missing invoice issues.

- Compare customs statements with invoice records and related bank deductions to confirm financial alignment.

- Maintain tracking spreadsheets for customs and tariff activity, reviewing data for consistency and follow-up needs.

- Research customs documentation to confirm tariff classifications, refund timing, and reimbursement amounts.

- Support efforts to reduce outstanding backlogs involving invoices, customs entries, and related payable records. Requirements - Bachelor's degree required.

- Prior experience in accounts payable, including invoice processing and coding.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data entry, tracking, and reconciliation tasks.

- Experience using SAP or a similar accounting system to manage payable transactions.

- Ability to handle detailed financial information with a high level of accuracy.

- Comfortable working in a fully on-site role in Newton, Massachusetts.

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
