Assistant Controller-Newton

Overview

The Assistant Controller will manage the accounting functions at the Newton plant under the supervision of the Plant Controller and Director of Finance. The role leads the monthly close process, partners on the annual budget and monthly forecast processes, and supports cycle counts and physical inventories. The assistant controller provides cost analysis and financial insights to drive cost reductions and process improvements.

Salary Range: 105K-110K

• Perform month‑end closing activities, including preparation of journal entries, management reports, and account reconciliations.
• Support the Plant Controller and Director of Finance with monthly cycle counting and physical inventory processes.
• Generate weekly sales and bookings reports.
• Participate in Power BI and SAP enhancement projects.
• Assist in monthly forecast and annual budget processes and generate plant cost center spend reports versus forecast and budget.
• Review and analyze production order activity, spending and absorption variances, inventory valuation accuracy, and other plant‑related financials.
• Develop standard rates for cost centers and work with engineering to maintain plant BOMs and routers.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual income statement and balance sheet analytics; support the operations team in developing business plans for capital projects and perform ad‑hoc analysis and special projects as needed.
• Assist with internal and external audit requirements during quarterly and annual audits; maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies, and document procedures for Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance initiatives.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• Minimum five years of accounting or finance experience, with manufacturing or plant accounting experience required.
• SAP experience preferred.
• Proficient in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Teams.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Dependable, trustworthy, and possess a sense of urgency and a results‑driven mindset.
• Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and a continuous‑improvement orientation.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a person admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee, or a national of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a person approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
