The primary responsibility of the Assistant Controller is to manage the accounting functions at the Newton plant under the supervision of the Plant Controller and Director of Finance. The role will lead the monthly close process and general accounting functions, partner closely with the Plant Controller during the annual budget and monthly forecast processes, support monthly cycle counts and physical inventories as needed, and provide value‑added cost analysis and financial insights for the plant to drive cost reductions and process improvements.

Salary Range: 105K‑110K

Responsibilities
  • Perform month‑end closing activities for the Newton plant, including preparation of journal entries, management reports and account reconciliations.
  • Support the Plant Controller and Director of Finance with monthly cycle counting and physical inventory processes.
  • Prepare weekly sales/bookings reports.
  • Participate in PowerBI and SAP enhancement projects.
  • Assist with monthly forecast and annual budget processes.
  • Generate plant cost center spend reports and compare against forecast and budget.
  • Review and analyze production order activity, spending and absorption variances, inventory valuation accuracy, and other plant‑related financials.
  • Learn the process of developing standard rates for cost centers and collaborate with engineering on maintenance of plant BOMS and routers.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual income statement and balance sheet analytics, assist operations in developing business plans for capital projects, and perform ad‑hoc analysis and support special projects as needed.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requirements, maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP and all company accounting policies, and document Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum five years of accounting or finance experience, with manufacturing or plant accounting experience required.
  • Proficiency in SAP and U.S. GAAP.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Highest level of integrity and ethics.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and results‑driven with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, and a service‑oriented, teamwork mindset.
  • Continuous improvement orientation and process improvement mindset.
  • Good planning, organization, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Desire to expand knowledge, develop new skills and advance career.
Export Compliance

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology, which falls under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
