the Role
Masters Academy International is seeking a dedicated School Psychologist to play a central role in supporting the mental health and learning needs of our students. Working closely with deans, faculty, coaching staff, and the Student Support Team (SST), you will provide comprehensive psychological services to help students thrive academically, athletically, and emotionally. You will be a key partner in fostering a school culture that prioritizes student well‑being, community belonging, and resilience—essential qualities for high‑performing student‑athletes.
In this role, you will provide individual and group counseling, collaborate on student support planning, and contribute to school‑wide initiatives that promote social‑emotional learning and mental health awareness. The ideal candidate will have a specialized understanding of the psychological demands facing adolescent athletes, including performance anxiety, injury recovery, identity development, and the pressure to excel across multiple domains.
The School Psychologist will provide comprehensive counseling and psychological support to students, delivering individual and small‑group interventions that address performance anxiety, injury‑related trauma, academic stress, identity development, social challenges, and broader mental health needs. The role involves supporting students as they balance the demands of elite athletics with academic rigor, implementing evidence‑based interventions, and providing crisis support and referrals when required.
As a core member of the Student Support Team and Safeguarding Team, the School Psychologist will work closely with deans, faculty, coaches, and families to develop and implement effective support plans, including Personal Learning Plans and collaborative problem‑solving approaches. The postholder will consult with teaching and coaching staff on classroom and team strategies, adolescent development, and trauma‑informed practice, and collaborate with external providers to ensure continuity of care.
In addition, the role includes contributing to school‑wide social‑emotional learning initiatives, mental health awareness programmes, and professional development for staff, as well as delivering workshops and resources for families. Strong partnership with families is essential, with regular communication, meetings, and support during challenging situations such as mental health crises, academic difficulties, and athletic setbacks.
The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree or higher in School Psychology, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or a related field, and will have demonstrated experience providing counseling to adolescents using evidence‑based therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness‑based interventions.
