Position Overview
The Department of Psychology at Merrimack College invites applications for a full‑time, non‑tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice (depending on experience) to serve as Program Director of the new Master’s Program in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology, beginning Fall 2026. This is a 12‑month appointment with the possibility of teaching and administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester in the I/O graduate program and undergraduate psychology curriculum, while providing leadership and direction for the launch and growth of the new graduate program.
Responsibilities- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and related areas.
- Provide academic leadership as the Program Director, including curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation preparation.
- Recruit, mentor, and advise graduate students in the I/O program.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and industry partners to expand internship, practicum, and applied research opportunities.
- Support program growth and innovation through outreach, marketing, and community partnerships.
- Participate in departmental, school, and college service.
- Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or closely related field (ABD candidates with expected completion before August 2026 will be considered).
- Evidence of teaching excellence at the graduate and/or undergraduate level.
- Demonstrated administrative or leadership experience, preferably in higher education or program development.
- Active engagement in the field of I/O Psychology (e.g., applied practice, research, consulting).
- Experience developing and/or directing graduate programs.
- Applied industry experience in I/O Psychology.
- Evidence of building partnerships with external organizations for internships, training, or applied research.

Work LocationThis is an on‑campus position as employees are essential in order to provide a fully on‑campus, residential college experience for our students and the community.
CompensationThe expected 9‑month base salary range (paid over 12 months) for the Lecturer is $70,000–85,000; for the Assistant Professor of Practice position is $74,000–90,000; for the Associate Professor of Practice is $90,000–110,000. The actual pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate qualifications and prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
