Job Overview
JCC Greater Boston’s Camp Kaleidoscope, a summer day camp in Newton, MA, is hiring a Sneaker & Streetwear Design Instructor. The instructor will lead 4‑5 design classes each day for children in grades 4‑8, covering t‑shirts, sneakers, hoodies, and other fashion projects. The position is hourly, Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am‑4:30 pm, with pay starting at $20 per hour and various perks such as JCC Fitness Center access.
WhatYou Will Do
- Plan, prepare, and lead age‑appropriate Sneaker & Streetwear design activities.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of campers during activities.
- Create a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages skill‑building.
- Work with counselors and camp leadership to provide a cohesive camper experience.
- Maintain, organize, and request necessary supplies and equipment.
- Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of diverse campers.
- Support camp‑wide special events and large‑group programming as assigned.
- Assist with overall camp operations as needed (drop‑off/pick‑up, transitions, lunch, supervision, etc.).
- Create a welcoming dynamic that values each individual.
- Actively participate as an essential team member.
- Support JCC Greater Boston’s mission, vision, and values through role modeling.
- Represent the organization enthusiastically and model excellence.
- Attend JCCGB meetings and trainings as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school degree preferred; college degree, certification, or equivalent experience preferred.
- 1+ season of instructor experience planning and leading activities for children.
- Portfolio or examples of projects preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute under JCC discretion.
- Enjoy working with children and helping them grow.
- Passion and expertise in sneaker & streetwear or related fashion design.
- Ability to plan and lead engaging, inclusive activities.
- Excellent group management skills.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
- Safety awareness and ability to manage risks.
- Creativity, flexibility, and patience to adapt activities for diverse needs.
- Positive, energetic attitude; commitment to an inclusive camp environment.

- Can lift and carry objects weighing 30‑40 pounds.
- Can sit and kneel; get down at eye level with children regularly.
Hourly position, 8 week summer program (June 22 – August 21). 8 week program includes pre‑camp training. The camp runs Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am‑4:30 pm. Competitive starting pay $20 per hour, adjusted based on qualifications. Free bus service for staff from Cambridge, Brookline, Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury, Wayland, Framingham, Natick, Needham, Newton, and Wellesley during the season.
