Position: Interim House Dean of Students
Dean Of Students

Summary
The Interim Dean of Students manages the social, academic, and behavioral progress for 25% of the school population, working with the other Deans as a team to manage the wellbeing of the students, staff and faculty.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Masters Degree or higher
- Appropriate DESE certification
- Minimum of 5 years of experience at the high school level
- Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with all stakeholders and to guide teachers to do the same
Desired
Qualifications:
- Assistant Principal/Principal License
- Certification in educational leadership (i.e. supervisor/director or principal)
- Supervisory/managerial experience
- Skills and desire to work as team player with teachers and staff
- Knowledge of student management practices, including use of data to inform decision making
- Ability to use technology effectively
Essential
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To)
Serve as a resource for building staff, administrators, and parents in working with students, creating a positive school climate, and helping students develop a positive self‑concept. Skill in human relations which demonstrates sensitivity to needs and concerns of others.Participate in or lead development of positive behavior support systems and development of intervention strategies. Develop and implement building‑wide safety protocols and act as liaison to various community agencies.Demonstrate ability to work successfully and positively with all students to provide them with assistance in meeting their educational needs. Coordinate, facilitate and implement disciplinary intervention steps and processes with staff, working closely with the principal, including participating or leading meetings regarding student growth and success (IEP and 504 case conferences, parent meetings, expulsion hearings, etc).Work closely with other Deans to consistently manage all student progress. Attend and participate in various leadership team meetings and other building meetings as assigned.Coordinate implementation of parent involvement as well as school‑sponsored events. Assist with school‑wide and event supervision. May oversee school‑wide team meetings and implementation efforts.Ability to effectively supervise building classified staff in keeping with the staff member's collective bargaining agreement.Maintains accurate student discipline records including the documentation of all parent/guardian conferences, suspensions and phone calls for behavior.Be highly present and visible during school hours ensuring a positive school environment.Model the school's core values and set the standard for professional behavior.Communicate daily with students, parents, and teachers regarding attendance and discipline matters.Responsible for implementing other job related duties as needed.Consistent and on‑time attendance is required.Work Environment &
Physical Requirements Work is performed in both office and school environments. Ability to operate computer, printer, telephone, copier, facsimile machine and other standard office equipment. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building.
