Grade 4 Teacher provides a developmentally appropriate educational program for students in Grade 4. The teacher supervises students within the classroom and assigned areas; develops lesson plans and delivers instruction within the established curriculum guidelines; collaborates with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators to improve instruction; and engages parents/guardians in conversations regarding instructional programs and student progress.
Responsibilities- Creates and maintains an effective and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children
- Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal classroom climate
- Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities to improve instruction and stay up to date on district initiatives
- Assesses student progress toward learning targets, objectives, and expectations
- Collects data to document student progress and aid in planning
- Provides feedback on progress to students, parents, and administration
- Holds parent conferences in the fall and spring to discuss individual student progress
- Instructs students in English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and an anti‑bullying curriculum
- Prepares daily lessons and activities
- Provides targeted intervention to close student learning gaps
- Other job‑related duties as required
- Bachelor’s Degree
- A valid license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Master’s Degree in Education (desired)
- Demonstrated experience with kindergarten learning principles (desired)
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
- Frequently kneel, stoop, bend, and crouch; periodically stand, talk, and listen; occasionally sit, walk, lift, or carry; regular attendance is a necessary and essential function; required to lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
