Summary: This position provides an opportunity for a dynamic music educator with a diverse skill set to provide general music instruction in grades K-5. Elementary music teaching positions all include vocal/choral music and instrumental music instruction.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree;
Master’s Degree preferred - Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to use technology effectively

- Excellent musicianship
- Experience and training in any or all of the following methodologies:
Orff, Kodaly, Gordon, Conversational Solfege, First Steps in Music, others - Proficient piano skills
- Broad knowledge of musical styles, composers, and music history
- Willingness to promote and sustain a culture of music in and among the school community
Teaching Duties:
- General Music instruction for K-5
- Small group instrumental music lessons
- 4th/5th grade chorus
- 4th/5th grade band
- 4th/5th grade orchestra
Essential
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide general music instruction in grades K-5
- Provide third‑grade recorder instruction
- For vocal/choral positions:
Conduct fourth‑grade introductory chorus and fifth‑grade chorus - For instrumental positions:
Provide/coordinate fourth‑grade introductory band instrument lessons (clarinet, flute, alto saxophone, trombone, trumpet, percussion) and conduct fifth‑grade concert band; assignment may also include fourth‑grade introductory string instrument lessons/fifth‑grade orchestra - Direct annual fifth‑grade musical (additional stipend available)
- Work in collaboration with building and citywide music teachers to maintain citywide music curriculum and assessment practices
- Maintain consistent, reliable, and punctual attendance for supervision and instruction
- Perform other job‑related duties as needed
Physical Requirements
Work Environment:
- Majority of work is performed in a school/classroom environment with moderate noise levels; regular attendance required
Physical Requirements:
- Walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear regularly; bend, stoop, crouch, and/or kneel frequently; navigate within a large school building; set up chairs and risers for concerts
- Regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds
