Sneaker & Streetwear Design Instructor – Camp Kaleidoscope, JCC Greater Boston, Newton, MA. This hourly position runs June 22 – August 21, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday–Friday.
What You Will Do Each DayLead 4–5 Sneaker & Streetwear design classes for children in grades 4–8. Plan and deliver activities on t‑shirts, sneakers, hoodies, socks, accessories, tie‑dying, up‑cycling, and more, using sewing machines, cricut, heat presses, 3D printers, and other equipment.
Primary Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and lead age‑appropriate activities in your specialty area.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of campers during activities.
- Create a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages skill‑building and exploration.
- Work in partnership with counselors and camp leadership to provide a cohesive, positive camp experience.
- Maintain, organize, and request necessary supplies and equipment.
- Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of diverse campers.
- Support camp‑wide special events and large‑group programming as assigned.
- Assist with overall camp operations as needed (drop‑off/pick‑up, transitions, lunch, supervision, etc.).
- Actively create a welcoming dynamic that contributes to an environment where each individual is valued and respected.
- Actively participate as an essential team member.
- Support JCC Greater Boston’s mission, vision, and values through role‑modeling.
- Represent the organization enthusiastically, model excellence and achievement.
- Attend JCCGB meetings and trainings as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school degree preferred; college degree, concentration, certification, or equivalent experience in the specialty area preferred.
- 1+ season of summer‑camp or similar instruction experience with children.
- Portfolio or examples of projects preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Equivalencies may be substituted at JCC’s discretion.
- Enjoyment of working with children and helping them grow.
- Passion and expertise in Sneaker & Streetwear design.
- Ability to plan and lead engaging, inclusive activities.
- Excellent group management, communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
- Safety awareness and risk management.
- Creativity, flexibility, and patience to adapt for diverse needs.
- Positive, energetic attitude and commitment to an inclusive environment.
- Proactive problem‑solving and willingness to seek guidance.
- Self‑starter with initiative.

- Lift and carry objects weighing 30–40 pounds.
- Sit, kneel, and get down at eye level with children regularly.
