Dearborn Academy is seeking a High School Special Education History Teacher. The department serves students in grades 3-12 who have emotional and/or specific learning disabilities. The position reports to the school’s teaching team and collaborates with clinicians, caregivers, and administration. The teacher will model the academy’s values and work as part of a collaborative, standards-aligned instructional team.
Responsibilities- Curriculum and Instruction:
Plan and implement individual and group lessons aligned to students IEPs, Massachusetts State Standards, NGSS, Common Core Standards, and the school curriculum. - Create routines to develop and practice students’ executive function skills.
- Integrate assistive technology and multi-modal learning into academic instruction in accordance with school goals and student IEPs.
- Provide ongoing assessment of students to determine progress and gather data for quarterly reporting.
- Collaborate with a team to review data and reports to support students in developing academic and social skills.
- Ensure supervision of students at all times.
- Lead weekly community-building circles as part of the school s restorative practice model.
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Master’s Degree in Education or a related field preferred
- License in Moderate Disabilities 5-12 preferred
- License in History preferred
- Experience in a school environment preferred
- Excellent relational skills with students, parents, and providers
- Salary Range: $60,
- Full-time, 10-month position
