Program Manager

The Program Manager is responsible for advising Boston College students about study abroad opportunities in assigned regions. Regions to be determined by qualifications of the applicant, though will likely be Ireland, Italy, and summer internships with the Vatican. Advising duties for outgoing BC students include assisting with program selection of both BC and approved external programs, application process, information and advice on curricular infrastructure and course offerings of programs, and tailored pre-departure orientations;

organizing and executing help with visa process, communicating regularly with students while they are abroad and with relevant BC faculty advisors, parents, and host university staff; managing reintegration activities, evaluation, and reporting of the study abroad experience. Reporting to the Associate Director the Program Manager communicates closely with other study abroad program managers in the Office of Global Education and works closely with multiple BC on-site resident directors.

The Program Manager communicates often and in close cooperation with the host universities and partners and especially with the BC on-site coordinators. In coordination with senior OGE leadership, s/he plays a significant role in the ongoing monitoring and development of programs to ensure that the OGE offerings meet BC students' academic and personal needs.

The Program Manager leads the office in promoting education abroad within the BC community through outreach efforts, including students who have historically been underrepresented in education abroad. This role requires him/her to assist in drafting and implementing an outreach strategy. Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $61,050 to $76,300; salary commensurate with relevant experience. Requirements

  • Master's degree required
  • Two years of experience including graduate work
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-up
  • Excellent cross-cultural skills
  • Advanced understanding of systems of higher education in the United States and abroad
  • Strong computer skills and evidence of ability to develop strong innovative technology applications
  • International experience
  • Foreign language fluency preferred but not required

  • Occasional early morning and/or late evening work
  • Weekend work (approximately 2-3 times per semester)
