Jackson Walnut Park School is an early childhood and primary school sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph. Located in an historic neighborhood in Newton, JWP features an accredited Montessori early childhood program and a K-6 independent school in the Catholic tradition. Jackson Walnut Park School seeks a full-time Assistant Director of Kids’ Corner for the 2026‑2027 school year.

Broad responsibilities include:

• Overseeing approximately 50 children and 5 staff from 11 to 6 pm daily.
• Maintaining expectations for student behavior, supporting students in understanding community standards with positive reinforcement and guidance.
• Providing a loosely Montessori based environment balanced with unstructured play to maintain consistency for the school’s youngest children.
• Assisting with daily non‑classroom duties (drop‑off, lunch, pick‑up, etc.).
• Communicating with teachers about how the day went.
• Conducting one’s self in a manner consistent with the school’s mission and values, and as a role model for the young people in our charge.

A solid understanding of the Montessori principals, AMS primary training preferred. The Assistant Director of Kids’ Corner should possess a college degree or be significantly advanced in college with a major or minor in education. Pluses include:
Prior school or childcare experience, Independent or Catholic school experience, familiarity with Responsive Classroom practices.
