Grades 3-8 Physical Education Teacher (Full-Time )
Schechter Boston seeks an enthusiastic and skilled Physical Education teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. We are looking for an educator who can inspire students to develop healthy, active lifestyles while building confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity. Our teachers work in highly collaborative teams and have meaningful ownership over curriculum and instructional design. The specific teaching assignments within Grades 3–8 will be determined based on school needs.
This position also includes coaching responsibilities across three seasons of our middle school athletics program.
Working independently and in collaboration with colleagues, our Physical Education teacher will:
- Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate physical education lessons for students in Grades 3–8 that develop physical literacy, fitness, coordination, and a variety of individual and team-based skills.
- Create a positive, inclusive environment where all students feel comfortable participating, taking risks, developing new skills, and challenging themselves.
- Differentiate instruction and activities to meet the needs, abilities, and interests of a wide range of learners.
- Teach and model teamwork, sportsmanship, cooperation, perseverance, and respect.
- Assess student progress and use observation and reflection to adapt instruction and support individual growth.
- Foster healthy habits and an understanding of the importance of physical activity and wellness.
- Teach middle school Health & Wellness courses.
- Establish clear routines and expectations that promote safety, responsibility, and positive participation.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and colleagues to support students' social, emotional, and physical development.
- Participate in school-wide events, athletics, and other community activities as appropriate.
- Contribute to a collaborative teaching team that believes in continuous improvement.
- Strong Physical Education teacher with at least two years of experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students.
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field;
Master's degree preferred. - Experience designing and implementing developmentally appropriate physical education curriculum.
- Skilled at building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Committed to inclusive instruction and meeting students where they are.
- Experience teaching diverse learners and adapting activities to accommodate different physical abilities and skill levels.
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Eager to collaborate, give and receive feedback, and share responsibility for curriculum and student learning outcomes.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred.
- Competitive salary up to $90,000, commensurate with experience.
