Position:

Project Manager - Server Room Design/Build Division

Job Description:

This individual will work independently and with other partner Server Room specialists to evaluate new and existing Server Rooms, IDF Rooms and other critical environments in order to design, price, secure and manage projects including Server Room and component installations within critical spaces.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify project opportunities through contacts with existing customers, networking with partners, or direct outreach to potential clients.
  • Once an opportunity moves into the budgeting phase, bring together the required resources from the existing consulting team members or identify and involve new resources as required.
  • Coordinate site walkthroughs with the design team.
  • Write and present proposals to the end users. Act as the coordinator for the design team.
  • Once an opportunity is approved to proceeds, acting as the General Contractor of the project, gather quotes for desired equipment and services in order to perform hard-bid pricing based on the team design and options.
  • Enter project information and budgets into company cost accounting software program.
  • Write project purchase orders, work orders and material lists.
  • Process and distribute project submittal packages for review and approval by the end user.
  • Work with the design team to generate construction set of drawings and a project schedule.
  • File building permit applications with local municipalities as required.
  • Act as the single point of contact for end user as required in scheduling the work activity.
  • Work closely with Longden’s Labor/Warehouse Manager in coordinating manpower and material requirements and deliverables for each project.
  • Perform daily project site visits to monitor progress, coordinate activities and communicate with all parties.
  • Track and monitor project schedules and costs to ensure completion of projects within time and budget.
  • Effectively administer the billing process, including timely applications for payment.
  • Process and submit required close-out documents as needed.
  • Travel primarily within New England region for meetings with customers, architects, engineers, etc. to promote Longden Company's services and products.
  • Two or Four-year degree in a technical field, preferably electrical engineering, or similar experience designing or installing commercial electrical equipment.
  • Experience with or ability to review and understand construction plans and specifications.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems for HVAC, electrical distribution, fire suppression, etc.
  • Two or more years construction project management experience is desirable.
  • There is a sales component to this position that requires an engaging personality, attention to detail, the ability to listen, and to present yourself and Longden in a positive manner.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel primarily throughout the New England region and occasionally outside of New England.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends for equipment switchovers, with that personal time to be taken at a different time.
